Commuter chaos hit the motorway heading from Bradford to Leeds this morning after an articulated lorry tipped over, emptying its cargo of household waste on to the grass verge.
Firefighters from Odsal were called out to the incident just after 5.30am to clear up the spilled oil and diesel and make the overturned vehicle safe.
A specialist crane will need to be brought in to upright and remove it.
The driver was not seriously hurt but was checked over by paramedics at the scene.
It happened on the eastbound slip road of the M62 at Junction 26 Chain Bar.
Congestion was expected to last for most of the morning.
