This in-store collection at Sainsbury’s in Greengates raised more than £600 for Haworth Cat Rescue.
The charity’s campaign manager Corinne Moore said it received many calls from housing associations, women’s refuges, social workers and friends or relatives of the elderly or ill, trying to place cats.
She said: “Every pound helps us edge closer to our vision of a bigger centre able to accept more homeless cats and give peace of mind to loving owners not able to care for them.”
