A woolly couple from Otley will share their wedding day with Prince William and Kate Middleton.
But Shirley and Cyril, being two model sheep, have not had much say in their wedding vows – or on how they’ll be dressed for the big occasion.
Instead, Cock Pit Farm Tea Rooms owner Sue Sansbury – who dresses Shirley up in seasonal guises outside her Weston business – has taken on the role of wedding planner.
She said: “We’ve always had Shirley, who we got from Pinecraft of Otley, standing outside the tea rooms and we dress her up depending on the season, so at the moment she’s got an Easter bonnet on.
“But I’ve been trying to get a ram for her for a while. Pinecraft have now agreed to loan us Cyril for the summer so we thought this could be a bit of fun while helping us raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
“I’ve been taking care of Shirley’s vows, which start with ‘Do ewe take this ram?’ and we have someone who’s volunteered to be ‘vicar’ for the day to marry them. We’ll also have a raffle and some Royal Wedding biscuits.”
Cyril and Shirley will be married at 2pm on Friday, April 29.
