Maximo Park, Eliza Doolittle, Feeder and Fun Lovin’ Criminals are the first acts to be unveiled to perform at this year’s Bingley Music Live festival.

The household names are confirmed on the Myrtle Park bill for the annual three-day event which takes place from Friday, September 2, to Sunday, September 4.

It is a coup for the events team at Bradford Council to name the quartet of high-profile acts after having its budget reduced in keeping with cuts across the Council this year.

Tickets are on general sale and organisers are hoping for a repeat of last year when crowds totalled 42,000.

In keeping with tradition, a free evening show will take place on the Friday, with Fun Lovin’ Criminals the headliners. The hip-hop/rock threesome from New York are perhaps best known for hits Scooby Snacks and Barry White.

Tyne and Wear indie rockers Maximo Park are set to headline one of the other two days. The five-piece have released three albums and have the likes of hit single Our Velocity among their repertoire.

English singer-songwriter Eliza Doolittle, real name Eliza Caird, adds a pop-punch to the line-up.

Her debut single, Skinny Genes, was only released around this time last year but the self-titled album that followed has gone platinum already.

Rock group Feeder have been going for 20 years and have a substantial following. Singles Buck Rogers, Just The Way I’m Feeling and Just A Day catapulted the band to wider attention and they are returning to the UK show circuit after a brief tour of smaller venues last year under the name Renegades.

Ian Bairstow, Bradford Council’s director of environment and sport, said: “Last year the festival attracted 42,000 people to Bingley over the weekend. The festival is fast becoming a not-to-be-missed event which shows how popular it has become since it started in 2007.

“The bands revealed so far are fabulous and demonstrates how the festival is developing. More bands will be announced soon and will add to what is expected to be a very credible line-up once again.”
