A man who has confessed to attacking and robbing three Bradford University students told a jury he prevented his co-accused from killing all of them.

Reaben Kareem said Jwanru Osman wanted to murder pharmacy student Sally Ho and her law student boyfriend Gavin Stolarczyk when they were bound and gagged in the cellar.

Kareem, 21, accused Osman of cutting the throat of Miss Ho’s brother, Tony, a chemistry and forensic science student who died in the robbery at Grantham Road, Great Horton, Bradford. He told Bradford Crown Court yesterday he was shocked when the police told him Mr Ho had been stabbed 13 times.

Kareem, of Coal Pool, Walsall, West Midlands, admitted stabbing Mr Ho, 19, up to six times when they struggled in the hallway at the house on January 22 last year. Kareem said Osman, 21, of Northolt, Middlesex, confessed to slashing Mr Ho’s throat as the pair fled down the M6 after the killing.

Both men deny murdering Mr Ho, blaming each other for the killing.

Kareem has pleaded guilty to wounding Miss Ho and Mr Stolarczyk with intent to cause them grievous bodily harm and conspiracy to rob. Osman denies all the charges.

The trial continues.
