A bursary scheme to help pupils join an independent school will be the legacy of its retiring head master.
Stephen Davidson, who will step down as head of Bradford Grammar School in December, will have the fund named in his honour after 15 years at the helm of the school.
A bursary has already been created during Mr Davidson’s time as head teacher, which enables about 120 boys and girls to study there, by helping their parents pay the fees.
The new fund, which will run alongside the other, means-tested bursary, will be called the Stephen Davidson Bursary Fund.
In a joint statement, chairman of the school’s board of governors Lady Lynne Morrison, president of the Old Bradfordians’ Association Gordon Green and chairman of bursary development Peter Marshall said: “Giving the opportunity to bright children to participate in the Bradford Grammar School experience has been a keystone of Stephen Davidson’s headship and is very dear to his heart.
“We have set up a bursary fund in his name as a tribute to him to help future students achieve their potential.”
