Residents at a nursing home are getting ready to show off their green fingers as part of a nationwide project.
From 11am on Tuesday, staff and residents at the Burley Hall Nursing Home, Burley-in-Wharfedale, will take part in the Community Crops ‘sow and grow’ day.
Community Crops is a Bupa Care Homes initiative which promotes the health benefits associated with gardening and growing your own fruit and vegetables.
The project is being supported by people involved with The Prince’s Trust xl programme, who are linking up with Bupa homes across the United Kingdom to help sow and grow the crops.
Home manager Lorraine Moss said: “This is a great way for our residents to appreciate the fresh air, stay active and get a real sense of achievement by tending to the crops and watching them grow.”
