Hundreds of Scouts took part in St George’s Day parades in the Bradford district on Sunday, including Keighley.
The traditional marches took place a few days earlier than normal as April 23 falls over the Easter weekend.
A procession of 650 young people from 23 Scouting groups made its way from Centenary Square to Bradford Cathedral for a service.
Queensbury Scout Band and St Chad’s Greys Scout Band from York led the parade.
St George’s Day parades were also held in Keighley and Shipley ahead of services at Saltaire United Reformed Church and St Anne’s Church in North Street, Keighley.
Eric Chapman, district commissioner for Bradford South, said: “We celebrate St George’s Day because he’s out patron saint.
“We have got a lot of young people in Bradford in Scouting. This is our chance to show ourselves to the city. It gives the Scouts a chance to show they are a member of the world’s largest youth organisation.”
The Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Peter Hill, who attended the service in Bradford and took the salute from the parade, said: “I’m very pleased to be able to celebrate St George’s Day with members of the Scouts.”
