When Samuel Fuller completed the London Marathon yesterday, he was preparing for an even greater challenge this summer.
The former pupil at Keighley’s Oakbank School, who now lives in Highbury, London, is to take part in the Ironman triathlon in Nice, France, in June.
And as he swims 3.8km of the Mediterranean, cycles 180km of the French Alps and runs a marathon around the city – all in one day – he will be thinking of his late grandparents, Eunice and Brian Fuller, who lived in Stanbury, near Keighley.
Mr Fuller, 25, has taken on the challenge to raise cash for Manorlands, the Sue Ryder Home at Oxenhope, where staff helped his grandparents when they were suffering from cancer.
“What the staff did for my grandparents and our family was priceless. I don’t think you can value it,” said Mr Fuller.
“I’ve always wanted to do a run for a charity and Manorlands is closest to me, so it’s the perfect choice.
