An annual quiz night and auction has raised a record £3,500 for two charities.
The event, staged at Skipton’s Rendezvous Hotel, was organised by Skipton police officer Steve Menzies.
Now he has split the proceeds between Children’s Cancer Research towards its work in trying to combat the disease and Skipton YMCA for its residential and outreach work with teenagers and young adults.
He said: “This was a fantastic result and double what we raised last year.
“I would like to thank everyone who turned up to support the event and those who donated raffle and auction prizes or bought raffle tickets.
“This was the 11th annual event I have organised, the first being at Skipton Police Club with about 20 people attending.
“Since then we have outgrown two venues as numbers have increased year on year to the point where we had nearly 200 attendees this year.”
Next year’s event has been booked for Friday, March 16, at Rendezvous Hotel.
