A collection of memorabilia associated with industrialist Sir Titus Salt and artefacts used by the first people to work at Salts Mill will go on display as part of Saltaire’s World Heritage Day celebrations.
The exhibition will include pieces of the dinner service used at the Salts Mill opening in 1853, pictures from the Salt Family Collection, and images from Saltaire village.
It will be at Shipley College, in Victoria Road, Saltaire – a World Heritage Site – from tomorrow until Monday.
New group Saltaire Learning has been set up to organise the community’s involvement in the World Heritage Day.
As part of the celebrations, Shipley College will host a variety of events in its Salt Rock Cafe in Salt Building.
These include the Saltaire Archive display, a multimedia presentation called What Titus Did For Us and a history club talk, The Changing Faces of Saltaire’s Waterfronts.
