A swimming club says rises in fees at a town’s Pool will have a devastating impact on its members.
Skipton Swimming Club believes the overall 24 per cent increase to its costs will force members to leave.
And it has called on Craven District Council to rethink the increases at Craven Pool, Skipton, which were brought in on April 1.
Head coach Ian Scrivin told the a meeting of the policy committee that the club accepted increases were necessary, but not to such an extent.
“We would have expected these to have been of a reasonable percentage of around four to five per cent, rather than the disastrous financial percentage increase that we are now faced with,” he said.
Cost of hiring the entire pool for an hour has increased by 13 per cent to £53 and the hiring of individual lanes has increased by half to £10.
