Instead of giving up sweets or chocolate during Lent, Bradford teenager Liam Jagger has been picking up litter around the Holme Wood estate.
The 17-year-old, a pupil at Bradford Academy, has collected more than 30 bags of rubbish so far.
Liam, of Broadstone Way, said: “Sometimes it’s an intentional effort or it’s just on the way to school.
“It was just a matter of doing something positive and green, and something to make the place a bit nicer.
“I have had a few odd looks but most people who ask me say something like ‘it needs it’ and give me a good reaction. It’s nice to look back and see where you have done and that it’s all clean.”
Liam also volunteers at his church, The Vine in Laisterdyke.
