A waste-carrying company which was last year allowed to double the number of lorries travelling in and out of its rendering plant near Bradford has submitted plans for a new building at the site.
The Leo Group has applied to Bradford Council for planning permission to build a covered store for 12 trailers at its Omega Proteins factory at Erling Works in Half Acre Road, Denholme.
The plans follow a public inquiry last November in Bradford, which also decided the company should be allowed to extend the hours during which lorries can enter and leave the site.
A statement from the Leo Group said the trailer store was not a requirement of the planning inspector and would reflect best-practice in the industry by using state-of-the-art systems to reduce odour.
But the plans have met with opposition from residents living near the site, with more than 70 letters of objection sent to Bradford Council.
Shipley MP Philip Davies is among those who have raised concerns.
A spokesman for the Leo Group said: “We look forward to working with Bradford Council on this latest application as it will bring significant economic benefits to the region.”
