A community-based rugby team is celebrating after being given £500 in cash seized from criminals.
The Bumble Bees, based in Bingley, received the funds after a charity match with West Yorkshire Police.
The money will be used to help pay for the team, which includes players with learning and physical disabilities, to travel to Wales to face the Llanelli Warriors, another mixed-ability team.
West Yorkshire Police donated the money from the force’s incentivisation scheme, which sees money from criminals used to fund community projects in areas affected by crime.
Assistant Chief Constable Mark Gilmore said: “This is a good example of how cash seized from criminals can help a community project and it’s been my pleasure to hand over the money which will benefit local people.”
Dave Morris, The Bumbles head coach said: “The charity match has been an excellent experience for us to play alongside West Yorkshire Police’s Rugby Union Team and the players have enjoyed being able to take on the ‘boys in blue’.”
