The pantomime season continues into next week thanks to Bradford group Drama Unlimited.
The group is staging panto classic Mother Goose to raise funds for the Laura Crane Trust.
The society was founded in 1977, comprised initially of staff from the Brown, Muff’s store in Bradford. It later became known as Rackhams Amateur Dramatics, then Bradford Retail Amateur Dramatics and is now Drama Unlimited.
Over the years, members have raised money for local charities, and this year they’re focusing on the Laura Crane Trust. The trust funds research into cancer in young people aged 13 to 25, along with support measures for teenage patients during their treatment and afterwards.
“It’s a very exciting year for us as it’s the first time we have performed a pantomime at Bingley Arts Centre,” says director Richard Hall.
“We haven’t done Mother Goose since 1995. We intend to make it one of the best pantos we’ve done. It’s full of traditional pantomime elements and popular songs from Glee, Queen and The Beatles, and a rather different take on Britney Spears.
“There are two parts to our society – the acting side and the dance group. We’re always on the lookout for new members to join. The only restriction is that members must be over 16. We also welcome members who prefer to help front-of-house, backstage or with the technical side of lighting, set-building or sound.”
Mother Goose runs at Bingley Arts Centre from Wednesday to Saturday, at 7.15pm, with a Saturday matinee at 2pm. For tickets, or to enquire about joining Drama Unlimited, call 07851 718111 or (01274) 432000, or go to dramaunlimited.co.uk.
