Detectives are tonight questioning a 20-year-old man about an attack on a 94-year-old woman in a Bradford care home.
The pensioner, who has not been named by police, remains in Bradford Royal Infirmary, in a stable condition, six days after the attack.
The incident happened last Friday night when an intruder broke into the woman’s ground floor flat, at Rosewood Court, Shakespeare Close, Barkerend, through a window and attacked her in the bathroom.
She was found with head injuries by staff at the care home at about 10.30pm, but the attack is believed to have taken place between 9.30pm and 10pm.
Cupboards and drawers at the flat were ransacked but police are still trying to establish what may have been taken in the burglary.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said tonight: “A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the aggravated burglary at a care home in Shakespeare Close in Bradford, which left a 94-year-old resident with serious head injuries.
“Inquiries remain ongoing and the victim remains in a stable condition in hospital.”
