Teachers and children from Heaton Primary School enjoyed a day in the woods to celebrate being praised for eight outstanding features by education watchdog Ofsted.
Inspectors said it was a good school where pupils work and play together happily. Leadership is outstanding, the care for pupils is of the highest quality and engagement with parents and carers is excellent. Heaton Primary head teacher Beverley Ledra said it was a thoroughly rewarding report for a school where children entered with skills well below those typical for their age. Many have little knowledge of English.
The school is fully integrated with Heaton Children’s Centre and it too was judged to be good with outstanding features.
