Bradford theatre company Mind The Gap is reviving its production of John Steinbeck classic Of Mice And Men. The award-winning adaptation (pictured) is back by popular demand, after touring to sell-out audiences in 2000, 2001 and 2005. Mind The Gap, which provides drama training to people with disabilities, is about to take the play on its largest tour to date, taking in 43 performances nationwide.
The play has been adapted for the company by acclaimed playwright Mike Kenny, whose version of The Railway Children is currently running at Waterloo Station in London.
Set in 1930s America, Of Mice And Men focuses on drifters George and Lennie who have only each other and their shared search for the American Dream. George is sharp and looks out for Lennie, his big-hearted companion who, unaware of his own strength, seems unable to keep out of trouble. Finding work on a ranch in California, they plan to stay long enough to buy a place of their own – but their arrival triggers a tragic chain of events threatening to destroy the dream that unites them.
* Of Mice And Men will be performed at the Mind The Gap Studios, Lister Mills, on Friday, February 11, before going on tour. For tickets or more information, ring (01274) 487390.
