Pupils at a Baildon school have planted a 1,000-tree boundary hedge to create a new habitat for a range of wildlife.
Each child at Sandal Primary School has planted at least one tree as part of the hedge on the school field, with the work to be completed this week by a team of volunteers from BT.
The scheme is run by the Habitat Heroes project, a partnership between Bradford Community Environment Project (BCEP), Bradford Environmental Education Service and Be Involved. It is funded by Shipley Area Committee.
Jack Darling, of BCEP, said: “One of the biggest impacts on biodiversity in areas like Baildon is the lack of suitable and varied habitats for local wildlife, which a hedge would provide.”
