Plans to build a cafe and visitor centre near a well-known beauty spot are expected to go before Bradford Council planners next month.
It had been hoped that the plan, for a site near the Cow and Calf Rocks at Ilkley, would go before the Council’s Keighley Area Planning Panel this month.
Cafe owner Tony Falconi submitted the planning application to the Council last summer and the planning panel is the first hurdle faced in the bid to build facilities at the landmark.
The privately-owned development, proposed for the site of a former Yorkshire Water building close to the edge of the moor, would include externally-accessed toilets which would be open to the public both in and out of cafe opening times. Supporters of public facilities for the many visitors to Ilkley Moor also hope the building could house interpretation boards for walkers and other visitors.
The development would also need special Government permission to build on legally-protected common land. Mr Falconi plans to apply for this once the plan is agreed by Bradford Council.
