Eleven-year-old Ersel Awan has been named ‘Budding Business Brain of Bradford’ after aceing an enterprising challenge.
He was awarded a trophy and an iPod after coming up with some good ideas for the interior design and menus for a proposed milkshake bar in Bradford.
Year Seven pupils at Laisterdyke Business and Enterprise College worked with entrepreneur Ben Clarkson who plans to open the business in the city centre.
The challenge was part of a foundation course in business and enterprise in which pupils are learning about Bradford businesses past and present, and the skills they need to be successful.
Gerard Liston, the school’s head of enterprise, said: “It’s great to have students inspired by local entrepreneurs, rather than TV celebrities or multi-millionaires. We wish Ben all the best with his new venture and look forward to some of our students following in his footsteps in a few years.”
