Renewed calls have been made for safety improvements on a moorland road after a multiple-vehicle accident in freezing conditions.
Residents of Hangingstone Road, Ilkley, say more needs to be done to prevent accidents on the road, close to the landmark Cow and Calf Rocks, following an accident which shut off the road last week.
Residents who have counted at least six accidents on the stretch of road last year are calling for a 30 miles per hour speed limit to be made compulsory.
Keighley and Ilkley MP Kris Hopkins said the road’s problems were “far from resolved”, despite the addition of extra signs and markings at the spot by Bradford Council last year.
But Bradford Council’s principal highway engi-neer, Keith Escritt, said: “As a series of improvements have been made at the site recently, further safety measures are not planned.”
