Armed police and trained negotiators were involved in a stand-off involving a 27-year-old man in Brighouse last night.
Police used Taser guns on the man after he refused to let them into a house in Old Lane Court, Brighouse, at 8.57pm.
He started throwing objects out of the window and making threats - allegedly threatening officers with a knife - before being arrested for making racist threats, police said.
A fire crew from Brighouse was on standby at the Ritz Ballroom in nearby Bradford Road. A fire service spokesman said they had been called after the man threatened to burn down a house.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said the Tasers used on the man were "not effective" but negotiators managed to talk the man down. He was arrested "without incident" on suspicion of assault and making racial threats a short time later.
