Bradford and District Senior Power has moved another step nearer to securing a community centre for older people in the city.
The group, set up by Bradford resident Jean Walker, received a further boost to its fundraising when the former Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor John Godward, presented it with a cheque for £33,414 at the Midland Hotel yesterday.
The group initially secured £50,000 on the ITV show Fortune: Million Pound Giveaway in 2007 and is now seeking premises within the city centre to set up the Bradford People’s Centre, which is aimed at people aged 50 or more but will also be able to be used by others.
