Community-proud pupils have been helping police catch illegal motorists outside their school.
Bowling Park Primary School pupils monitored traffic in Usher Street, Bradford, as part of a ‘Safer School Community Project’ led by pupil eco-safety wardens.
The aim is for pupils to audit and improve their environment. This operation was the first of three bi-monthly road safety and school environment audits.
Pupils used speed cameras and took photographs of drivers parking on yellow lines, and looked at ways to improve road safety.
Bradford East Neighbourhood Co-ordinators Office sponsored a poster competition to highlight road safety and the winning poster was printed on to 600 postcards given out to parents, businesses, libraries, children’s centres and doctor’s surgeries.
