Campaigners striving for faster broadband services for Burley-in-Wharfedale are calling on Bradford Council to back their efforts.
The village missed out on new fibre-optic technology after finishing ninth in a nationwide BT competition.
But after polling 2,000 votes from the village, campaigners, including the volunteer-led iBurley group, which was behind a big effort in the BT competition, have vowed to push BT to bring forward plans for superfast broadband.
Councillor Matt Palmer will put in a formal motion to the Council for their support in Burley’s bid and also wants chief executive Tony Reeves to write to the company outlining the Council’s backing for the campaign.
Coun Palmer (Con, Wharfedale) will to put his motion to the full meeting of the Council next Tuesday.
BT said it would discuss the idea with residents.
