Students are to exhibit the work they entered for the third annual Peter Brook Art Prize in Brighouse.
Mr Brook, a former art teacher turned prominent artist, died in November, 2009, aged 81. He was very supportive of young artists and as a tribute to him the town’s Smith Art Gallery established an annual art exhibition for schools.
Jeffrey Andrews, a lifelong learning senior officer at Calderdale Council, said: “To see their work displayed outside of the classroom is exciting for these young people.
“Peter’s widow, Molly, has kindly commissioned a trophy for the winning school, with prizes and certificates for every artist.”
The exhibition is on display at the gallery from Saturday, January 15 to February 19.
