Staff at a thriving nursing agency could find themselves painting, decorating or even gardening as part of a new community project.

For one day each month, Twenty Four Seven Nursing, based in Ilkley, will offer a member of staff to a good community cause needing a extra pair of hands – for free. And those jobs could include anything from painting, gardening, maintenance, clearing small areas of land, administration as well as looking after young and old, or infirm and vulnerable people.

Now the company wants to hear from churches, community centres, schools, charities and voluntary groups for any ideas of how they can help out.

Twenty Four Seven’s managing director and founder Janet Smith said: “What we thought we’d do is give something back to the community. Once a month we’ll offer the services of someone, be it an office member or one of the temporary workers, to do something in the community.

“It was just a thought about what we can give back.

“Sometimes when you’re really busy at work it’s difficult to give up some of your own time. We thought we’d make it a combined effort and do it as a company thing.

“The New Year is a good time to start something like this.”

Mrs Smith said her staff were up for the challenge.

“We’ve got 400 temporary workers and out of that list somewhere there will be someone who can fit in to what people are looking for, whether it’s a past experience in one of their jobs or a hobby or an interest.”

Mrs Smith said the range of things her staff could do was extensive and although the scheme would start in Ilkley, with staff based all around West Yorkshire, it could grow further.

Anyone living in the Ilkley area who could nominate a project for staff from Twenty Four Seven Nursing to help is asked to call office manager Vikki Thorpe on (01943) 604777 or e-mail vikki@247recruitment.org.uk.
