City centre street drinkers who fail to hand over their alcohol to police will be hit with fines of up to £500 under a new crackdown.
Warning signs have been put up in areas of Bradford city centre as a reminder that anti-social street drinking will not be tolerated.
Bradford Council has positioned the notices to make it clear that laws clamping down on street drinking in the city centre are being strictly enforced.
Anyone who does not comply with police requests to hand over their drink could face the maximum fine of £500. The signs were put up following concerns from traders in problem areas of the city centre.
Sarwan Singh, owner of City News in Market Street, said previous Council and police initiatives to get drinkers off the street had proved a success.
