Newly-released figures show that reports of violent crime were up in the Ilkley area in December.
However, a drink-driving crackdown put dozens of drivers in the clear.
Police in the Ilkley, Wharfedale and Craven wards stopped and breathalysed 70 motorists in several operations, and focused resources on preventing drink-fuelled disorder through the festive season.
The area’s Neighbourhood Policing Team said none of the drivers stopped were over the limit.
There were no house burglaries in Ilkley, Addingham, Burley-in-Wharfedale or Menston all month. But the total number of crimes in Ilkley was up in December, according to new police figures, including 12 reports of assaults, compared to just two the previous month.
Inspector Sue Sanderson said several of the alleged assaults reported were connected with a smaller number specific incidents in the town. One was said to be a domestic related incident.
A total of 40 crimes recorded in Ilkley last month, a rise on the 32 recorded in November.
