Seven members of staff at the same care home have become pregnant – after sitting on two chairs in the main office!
Staff from Anchor’s Townend Close in Victoria Road, Cross Hills, could not believe their eyes when the seven women became pregnant within months of each other.
The first mother to become pregnant was Donna Lambert who gave birth to Elise in September – the same month as Bernie Kelly who gave birth to Latisha.
Then, in quick succession, Rachel Hird gave birth to Ryan, Claire Ellison’s baby, Iris, was born and Sarah Whyte welcomed daughter Bethany.
Still to have babies are Katarzyne Staron, who is due in March, and Sharon Sorsby, who is due in April.
Colleague Sylvia Hill said no-one could believe how many staff had become pregnant.
She said: “We were trying to find out what the common factor was. We thought it might be the water or the fact that working with older people has shown the benefits of having close families. But the most likely cause of the women getting pregnant is that they have all sat in the same two chairs in the main office!”
