A former pupil of Idle stage school Stage 84 is to tie the knot – on screen.
Jack P Shepherd, who plays David Platt in Coronation Street, is to see his character marry Kylie Turner, played by Paula Lane.
The pair are set to leave their families shocked when David returns from holiday engaged.
A Coronation Street spokeswoman said: "Kylie and David are trouble as individuals so the thought of the two of them getting together is a nightmare prospect for both their families.
"But it will certainly make for exciting viewing for Corrie fans - Kylie and David are fantastic characters and there is no end to the trouble they will cause for everyone."
