Festivities for residents at Abbeydale Residential Home in Ilkley will be a double celebration this year.
This year’s fun will include a toast to Winifred Illingworth, who will be 100 tomorrow.
Winifred will be the star guest at the morning Christmas cocktail party and singers have been invited to perform songs from the 1940s, 50s and 60s. She will share her special day with nieces and nephews.
The former mill warper from Saltaire said one of her secrets to keeping fit and well was to keep busy.
“It’s about taking an interest in things,” she said.
“I read, I go on the bus and go walking and there’s plenty of entertainment in here.”
Nursing home owner Catherine Day said: “She likes to look smart and co-ordinated.
“She always goes on the bus and even when it’s cold she goes out for a walk.”
