Sixth formers at a Bradford school have been helping spread some festive cheer among elderly members of their community.
The students at Carlton Bolling College visited residents at Burger Court Nursing and Residential Home in Barkerend Road to give them Christmas gifts.
The students, who have formed a charitable foundation at the school, raised £1,100 by holding a non-uniform day.
Rabia Khan, the foundation’s treasurer, said: “We decided to set up the charity committee because we felt the community around our school wasn’t being helped and since we are a local school we thought it was our duty to do something. It’s Christmas time and people can often feel alone. You could see the happiness on people’s faces when we visited.”
