Bradford and Keighley probation service staff have raised £1,500 for gifts for vulnerable children.
Residents and businesses made donations to boost the kitty of the 19th annual appeal to buy gifts for the children of deprived families who are known to the West Yorkshire Probation Trust.
Chambers Solicitors donated £1,000 and further contributions were made by Sainsbury’s supermarket, Bradford Bulls and Hirstwood Regeneration Group. Probation staff also held a raffle and an auction and raised £350.
Ishtiaq Ramzan, of the West Yorkshire Probation Trust, who organised the appeal, said: “Our staff often see people struggling to support their families and children suffer through no fault of their own. It is particularly difficult to see children going without at this time of year.
“Offering carefully selected gifts to children who may otherwise get very little is extremely rewarding.”
