Bradford-based loans company Provident Financial is investing £90,000 to help improve one of the city’s housing estates.
The company’s Good Neighbour programme has pledged to work with the Holme Wood Executive, a community organisation on the Holme Wood estate, until the end of 2012.
More than 150 Provident employees have volunteered on the estate so far, building raised beds at schools, residential homes and residents’ gardens as well as repainting fences and railings at the Hope Centre and a park in Broadstone Way.
They have also built wilderness areas at two schools, created a children’s garden at Holme Wood library and visited Ryecroft and Carrwood primary schools to listen to children read.
Next year Provident hopes to help set up an allotment area at Holme View residential home so schoolchildren and members of the community can grow their own fruit and vegetables.
