Councillors have approved plans for 142 homes on the site of a disused quarry in Queensbury.
Members of the area planning panel granted an application by Leeds-based Harron Homes to reclaim Hazelhurst Quarry.
The development will be subject to a Section 106 agreement of £231,562 towards education in the area and £141,875 in lieu of on-site recreation provision.
Harron Homes will also provide 22 homes at lower than their market value, at a cost to them of more than £1.76 million.
Objections raised by Councillor Lynda Cromie (BNP, Queensbury) and two residents included road congestion and the lack of places at nearby schools.
Panel chairman, Councillor David Robinson, said: “I do have a very great deal of sympathy for some of the points from the councillor and the two objectors.”
Four members of the panel voted in favour of the application, while three abstained.
