A packed cathedral witnessed the annual city carol service in Bradford last night, which was beamed live to the world on the internet for the first time.
The service featured readings and hymns from inside Bradford Cathedral with carols performed by the cathedral choir and music from the West Yorkshire Fire Service Band. The service was also shown on the city centre’s Big Screen in Centenary Square.
The webcast had been organised by Bradford Council, Bradford Cathedral, the University of Bradford, the National Media Museum and the BBC.
Councillor the Reverend Paul Flowers, Bradford Council’s executive member for culture, said: “The cathedral is the perfect venue to enjoy traditional carols and bring everyone together in a real celebration of Christmas.”
The Dean of Bradford Cathedral, the Very Reverend David Ison, said: “The city carol service gives everyone a chance to celebrate a traditional Christmas.”
