Councillor Ian Greenwood, leader of Bradford Council, says the T&A Business Awards are being staged at the right time, and has urged firms to enter and support the event.

“I believe these business awards are a brilliant idea. They will highlight the work and achievements of companies, large and small, both well-known and not so well-known,” he said.

Coun Greenwood emphasised the part business and commerce played in the district’s life and economy, and praised the commitment and dynamism of entrepreneurs.

He said: “We have a long and proud history of industrial and commercial innovation in this part of the world. Today’s businesses, from the smallest enterprise to the large nationally-known companies, are maintaining that tradition.

“Enterprise is absolutely vital to the Bradford district. It is essential to enabling us to do and achieve so many things that would not be possible without a strong business community.

“It is more essential than ever at a time when some businesses have faced and continue to face tough challenges, that we recognise and celebrate their achievements.”

Coun Greenwood urged entrepreneurs and companies to become involved in organisations such as the Chamber of Commerce and others which were working for the interests of the district.

“These awards will help to encourage businesses as well as reward their achievements. The Council is delighted to be associated with such a timely and worthwhile event,” said Coun Greenwood.
