SIR I see that the needle on the barometer is now beginning to point back to common sense and sanity. Ministers are now to scrap all the silly laws regarding the flying of the national flag. This is a great victory for public opinion and smashes the advance of political correctness. A few more blows and we can get a knockout over this insidious plan to undermine us.
The wind of change' is blowing in this country. The St George's flag is only the start. Welsh devolution has taken a big step further. English devolution is not too far away.
If I were to give any advice to New Labour it would be to put forward a middle-aged Englishman as their next choice for PM.
