A robber snatched a woman’s gold wedding necklace from around her neck as she walked to work.
The man tore part of the ceremonial necklace from the 30-year-old as he walked past her in Gipsy Hill, near the junction of Woodland Road, at about 8.30am on Wednesday, September 1.
The robber made off with the pendant of the mangalsutra, a symbol of love and marriage similar to a wedding ring given to brides in India on their wedding day, after a struggle.
Police said he walked towards Woodland Road.
The robber is described as black, of medium build, and about 6ft 2in.
He was wearing dark clothing with a hood.
Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen or heard something.
Anyone with information should call Lambeth’s robbery squad on 020 8649 2439 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
