A team of football celebrities including Bradford City manager Peter Taylor will be taking on England’s Homeless World Cup team in a charity football match.

Leeds boss Simon Grayson and Bantams old boy Peter Beagrie will join former professionals and TV stars in the celebrity team, which will take part in Stars Soccer Aid 2010 to raise money for One In a Million, the Bradford City Burns Unit Appeal and the England Homeless World Cup team.

The match, at Eccleshill United on Sunday, September 5, kicks off at 3pm.

Bradford’s assistant manager Wayne Jacobs, founder of the One In A Million charity, will also be playing in the celebrity team.

He said: “This is a prestigious tournament and these players have overcome a lot to get there and we are delighted we can help.

“This will be a great game against a very good side.”

It has been reported the England team needs support to make sure it takes part in the football competition in Brazil as it faces a funding shortfall.

Mr Jacobs said: “I know it will be a fantastic day and hopefully we will get these guys to Brazil.

“I know there’s a lot of fantastic things happening in West Yorkshire, sometimes we get a bit of negative press, and I think this is a great opportunity for us to show we will get behind this and do something positive.”

Richard Brown, of The Big Issue in the North, who manages the England Team, said: “We hope people will be inspired to take an interest in the Homeless World Cup England Team.

“We need the public to throw their support behind the team so we can ensure this, and future, teams can represent their country.”

Tickets cost £5 or £10 for a family ticket. They are available on the day or beforehand from Bantams Café, above the club shop at Valley Parade.
