Young disabled athletes broke off from a mini-Olympics competition at Titus Salt School in Baildon to accept a donation from the group that supports them.
Bradford Disability Sports and Leisure, which supports disabled people through sport, received a £5,000 donation from Sovereign Health Care at the event.
A cheque was handed over by David Lewis, consultant to the company’s charitable trust. The money will go towards funding BDSL’s annual activities. Sovereign has supported Bradford Sports for more than ten years.
Mr Lewis, a former chief executive of Sovereign, said: “I’m delighted to be able to help finance some of the activities of BDSL for another year. They have excelled in recent competitions with large hauls of medals. Even better, they are taking part in the European Special Olympic Games in September and the World Games in Athens in 2011.”
Hilary White, chairman of BDSL, said: “Without Sovereign’s help many disabled people would not be able to take part in our sports clubs and activities.”
