A man is being questioned by detectives after armed police surrounded a house following a report a firearm was being brandished.
The 50-year-old and a man of 22, understood to be his son, were arrested at a house in the Oval, Skipton, shortly after midnight yesterday.
The 22-year-old has been released on bail.
Also taken from the house were three firearms, which were found to be replicas.
The incident was sparked when police received a report of a man carrying a pistol-type weapon in a front garden.
A police spokesman said: “No-one was injured and no shots were fired. Local residents can be assured there was no threat or danger posed to them. The incident was quickly contained.”
