Schoolgirl Millie Griffiths is about to ‘push off’ for a fundraising adventure through the Outer Hebrides.
This summer the Calverley 12-year-old will cycle across six islands in six days in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.
The Benton Park pupil, whose dad Duncan will be going along for the ride, is doing it for her grandad Dennis Griffiths and her gran Olive who is his carer.
Millie (pictured) said: “Grandad gets mixed, he can’t remember things and thinks gran’s his mum which makes her sad sometimes. They’ve been married nearly 50 years.”
Millie and her dad will set off on August 7. They will catch a ferry to Barra, before going on to Eriskay, South Uist, Benbecula, North Uist, Berneray and Harris.
“I’ve been planning the trip with dad. He says we can’t take much because it’ll slow us down but I’m definitely packing a picture of Grandad!”
