A Wilsden church is taking the unique step of hosting a wedding fair.
Usually couples have completed their wedding planning by the time they step into the church but the congregation at St Matthew’s in Main Street hit on the novel idea of holding a wedding fair to showcase their facilities.
Brides-to-be will be able to browse displays and glean everything they need to know from bridal gowns to photographers, flowers to beauty treatments.
Wilsdener and long standing member of St Matthews, Astrid Hansen, hit on the idea after seeing businesses in the village offering services which would fit well with wedding planning.
She said: “I thought ‘we have all these why don’t we do it?’ and there are new regulations which make it a lot easier to have a Church of England wedding so it occurred to me there is a lot going for it and to raise the profile of the church.”
The wedding fair takes place from 10am until 4pm on Saturday, September 11.
