A production of Macbeth described as “part alternative rock band, part thespian, part performance art” is coming to East Riddlesden Hall.
Members of The Pantaloons theatre company (pictured) are also holding a public workshop as part of their visit to the historic venue.
With a small cast of five, the production has audience interaction, contemporary references, puppets and original live music.
Company director Caitlin Storey says: “Our aim is to make Shakespeare and theatre accessible to everyone in terms of creativity and finance. The workshops are a fantastic opportunity to work with some of the most talented people in the business.”
The company formed in 2004, and has steadily grown each year, with critically-acclaimed productions of The Winter’s Tale, Cymbeline, Romeo And Juliet and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The Pantaloons specialise in making Shakespeare enjoyable to everyone, “from little children who enjoy the fat suits and bright colours, teenagers who may be studying Shakespeare, die-hard Shakespeare fans and adults who previously didn’t like Shakespeare.”
