The Ugly Duckling folk tale was turned into a multi-award-winning musical with the unlikely title of Honk.
In it, a duckling called Ugly, unable to quack, honks his way about the farmyard.
Eventually, he undergoes a rites of passage journey in which he meets the beautiful Penny and the courageous Cat. He learns that looks aren’t everything.
In the words of Bradford musician, director and producer Dev Swan: “Just believe in yourself. Don’t be left on the shelf feeling that all hope is dead and gone. You may find, in your own way, you’re a swan.”
His production of the musical Honk is on at the theatre in the Glusburn Institute on September 3 and 4, from 7.30pm and at 2.30pm on September 5.
Tickets are £8 and £7 from Forget Me Not at Crosshills, or from Glusburn Institute on (01535) 630223.
