A Bradford man has been jailed for three and a half years after police found more than £870,000 hidden inside a chimney stack, the largest-ever criminal cash seizure in the city.
The money was discovered after investigators executed a search warrant at a house in Wilmer Drive, Heaton, on December 23, 2008.
Yesterday, Baber Bashir, 35, was jailed at Bradford Crown Court.
Bashir, of Victor Road, Heaton, and Ehtsham Ahmed, 25, of Victor Street, Heaton, had pleaded guilty to concealing criminal property – £871,495 – at Wilmer Drive, on December 23, 2008.
Bashir had also pleaded guilty to possessing a false passport in the name of Mohammed Akram, on the same date.
